The City of Yorba Linda has completed its first series of community workshops covering the resident-driven revisions to the 2021-2029 Housing Element. Spanning five workshops over September to October, hundreds of city residents actively participated in these events, contributing their insights and feedback to the proposed Housing Element Update.

A range of in-person and virtual events, including an extensive Q&A session and workshops at various locations around the city, facilitated robust discussions and community engagement. The City extends its gratitude to all participants for their input and ongoing commitment to shaping the future of housing in Yorba Linda.

The next significant milestone in the housing element journey is the Planning Commission meeting slated for Wednesday, October 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall. The Commission will solicit additional public input and forward its recommendation on the proposed revisions to the 2021-2029 Housing Element to the City Council. Community members are encouraged to attend, lending their voices to this crucial phase of the housing element review process.

The City Council is expected to review the revised Housing Element at a City Council Meeting by December 2023. This Council Meeting will offer another opportunity for residents to provide feedback before the draft is submitted to the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) for State approval.

The City remains committed to a resident-driven approach, ensuring the updated Housing Element not only complies with state mandates but also reflects the aspirations and concerns of Yorba Linda’s residents. Public participation continues to be integral to achieving a balanced and inclusive housing plan that safeguards the city’s unique character and quality of life in the Land of Gracious Living.
