Results from the November 5, 2024 General Election indicate that over 90% of voters approved Measure JJ, the Yorba Linda Local Control, Residential Neighborhood, Open Space Protection Measure.
With the approval of Measure JJ, the City’s Housing Element will achieve full certification from the State. This milestone allows the City to meet its housing obligations while safeguarding local control over land use decisions.
The City will maintain its ability to:
- Protect open space;
- Preserve the character of residential neighborhoods;
- Retain local control over land use decisions and housing projects (including design and zoning) in Yorba Linda;
- Mitigate traffic concerns; and
- Create opportunities for small businesses in a new downtown experience at Savi Ranch.
Measure JJ was unanimously placed on the ballot by City Council following an extensive community engagement initiative that launched in 2023. Residents across the City collaborated to review and provide recommendations for the Housing Element. The City hosted 15 public engagement opportunities on the revised 2021-2029 Housing Element, including formal review and approval by the Traffic Commission and Planning Commission.
The Orange County Registrar of Voters certified the final election results on December 3, 2024, affirming the approval of Measure JJ. For more information about Measure JJ and its implications for the community, visit YLMeasureJJ.com.
